On 7 February 2023, the World Dog Alliance (WDA) held its first event at the German Bundestag. The event took place at 8am and was attended by approximately 10 legislators. It was a formal breakfast meeting with a long table in the middle where guests took their meals and were seated, rather than the more casual, glass-walking, chatting format of the US and UK.

The venue was one of the buildings of the Bundestag building, which is somewhat of a private club for legislators, with a number of rooms and restaurants for events. The event was hosted by Member of Bundestag, Ingo Bodek. 

He is a member of the Free Democratic Party (FDP), one of the ruling parties and has 92 seats in the legislature. He was the first to arrive and the last to leave, and gave a speech full of enthusiasm.

To appeal to German tastes, a clip from Eating Happiness was shown to impress the audience with a realistic picture of the black industry chain. The participants appreciated the work of the WDA as they had only heard about the dog meat industry in Asia and the documentary had a huge impact on them.

This was the first time that the WDA visited Germany, where it had not planned to start work in the past because of the long-standing legislation banning the eating of dogs and cats. With the International Agreement to Prohibit the Eating of Dogs and Cats, Germany has suddenly become an important country, and in addition to having banned dogs and cats, Germany has been one of the most powerful countries in the European Union, and its influence has been even more significant since Brexit. If Germany were to join the International Agreement, it would act as a benchmark for the EU.
