On April 2020, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China released the National Catalog of Animal Genetic Resources and Livestock seeking public consultation after Genlin, the Founder of World Dog Alliance, wrote two letters to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China. Dogs and cats are removed from the list of livestock, and have been categorized as companion animals in the country as a result.
