At the beginning of Lunar New Year, the WDA wishes everyone and their furry kids good health and safety.
Less than a week in the Year of Ox, we already have good news to report! The WDA recently sponsored an animal shelter to apply for the amendment of land use in compliance with government regulations. Under the effort of Legislator Gary Chan, the government finally granted a temporary change in land use for 5 years. In other words, the shelter may continue to operate for at least 5 more years.
On 18 February 2021, Genlin, Founder of the WDA, and Legislator Gary Chan visited the 250 dogs and cats at the animal shelter in Ping Che. They also met with volunteers there to understand the operation.
Genlin pledges to help the shelter in three aspects: manpower, plan and funding. Given the lack of volunteers at the shelter, our team will visit the shelter regularly to help take care of the animals. Since most volunteers do not have much experience of running an animal shelter, the WDA will help them develop a sustainable plan to operate the shelter, improve the animals’ living standards, recruit volunteers and raise funds. Genlin’s heart is always close to dogs and cats. He will continue his generous sponsorship to the shelter.
