The Government rejected ‘Dogs and Cats Graveyard Scheme’ suggested by Legislator Gary Chan at a meeting of The Animal Rights Committee of Legislative Council previously.
The proposal of public animal shelters was also rejected. The Government believed that such shelters were not a suitable way to handle dogs and cats, and there is a lack of similar examples in other countries.
Gary Chan was extremely disappointed with the response. He found the Government very conservative, and did not take up the responsibilies.
WDA shares Gary Chan’s disappointment. The Government should take actions to promote animal welfare and fulfil citizen’s expectations.
